WHY WIDE FABRICS?
As seen in the technical section a material has two dimensions: width and length. The width influences both the production processes and the end-use of the final product; thus the reason of its particular importance. The standard widths in production are 140, 150, 280, 345 cm although other sizes may be found as a result of specific finishing metho.
Narrow widths (140, 150 cm) are typical in clothing and upholstery fabrics and represent the standard production, world-wide, probably due to historical reasons. The loom was anciently invented in a narrow width because easier and cheaper to construct.
Thus all equipment for fabrics (cutting machines, warehouse shelves, sewing machines etc) were adapted to this standard width. Wide-width looms (finished width of fabric > 280 cm) represent a niche in continuous evolution. Originally used for curtain fabric production, they are now showing their innovative impact in a wide range of fabrics, also achieving the possibility to economise in further manufacturing processes.
Casalegno Tendaggi S.p.A. historically set-up its production in wide-width so as to achieve a product of the most ample end-use, and enabling further manufacturing and transformation processes to be much easier for the specialist and for the final consumer.
WHY WIDE-WIDTH FABRICS ARE THE BEST?
No need for expensive and ugly seams in the production of sofas, bed-spreads and table-cloths.
A simple, fast way to cover walls Minor waste in manufacture Production economising Logistic advantages in the production cycle.
